Just like the headline says. You’d think the guy could pay this one off? Man, that amount is just huge! A California judge awarded Facebook $711 million in damages against spammer Sanford Wallace for bombarding the Web site with spam messages. This is not the first time that Sanford has been penalized. MySpace won against him for sending junk messages.
The amount MySpace won over him was pretty huge too so I am guessing he is bankrupt now especially that he got slammed with that huge fine after Facebook won. The judge also referred Wallace to the U.S. Attorney’s Office with a request that Wallace be prosecuted for criminal contempt which means he could face time in jail. Is the punishment harsh or justifiable? What do you think?
