Majority of you know what GPS stands for and what its use is. GPS tracking devices are nothing new these days. They can be pretty instrumental in determining the precise location of a vehicle, person or other asset to which it is attached and to record the position at regular intervals.
The recorded location data can be stored within the tracking unit, or it may be transmitted to a central location data base, or through an Internet connected computer, using a cellphone with GPRS capability, radio or satellite modem embedded in the unit. This allows the asset’s location to be displayed against a map backdrop either in real time or when analyzing the track later, using customized software, and for the speed of the vehicle to be determined.
Think CSI shows and see the effectiveness a GPS tracking device can give to people searching for an asset. Pretty convenient and useful right? There are GPS tracking devices that are fake so you should be careful where you buy them or who sells you one.
I currently use a GPS tracker device for personal reasons, this tracking key by Rocky Mountain Tracking. It is a great device considering the low price cost that comes with it. The battery lifespan is pretty neat, around up to 4 weeks. With a built-in motion detector and the capability to record a hundred hours of movement, adjustable recording rate, motionless detection and detailed information display like date, time speed and direction, I would say this item is a steal.
Small, compact and reliable. It is even water resistant too! This device does not consume a whole load of batteries since it only uses 2 AAA batteries. Given that the whole package also includes maps and reports, I would say I got my money’s worth on this great tracking key.
