Ping Assist Pro, Your Network Babysitter

Ping is a computer network administration utility used to test whether a particular host is reachable across an Internet Protocol (IP) network and to measure the round-trip time for packets sent from the local host to a destination computer, including the local host’s own interfaces. To put it simply, it is a way for users to know if a site is alive or not.

Windows and Unixed based operating systems have a ping tool included in the system but the output can sometimes be confusing for non-experts. Visuals can greatly help to easily understand a ping utility output’s information. Ping Assist Pro is a useful ping software application to constantly monitor the performance over networks.

I tried this out myself and setting up the software as well as configuring it was a breeze. You can run it as a Windows service without worries of any high resource consumption because it eats up little resources.

The service will collect detailed statistics regarding the performance of your network and retain this information through logs. The statistics gathered can then be viewed at any time in either a graphical or text-based format. Alarm notifications include alarm sounds, email notifications or system tray or network messages to inform you of any sudden negative changes in the network.
