Possible Pagerank Update On November 2010?

This had been a weird year so far. Usually, Google updates pagerank every quarter but so far this year only 1 major update had been done and that was last April 2010. Last September 2010 was to be expected but nothing happened. A few reported minor changes to their PR in WebmasterWorld.com and even last month, there were no news about it.

We are nearing the end of the year so many people are expecting that the update will happen within this month of November 2010. If not, then it will have to be next month. If all hope fails, then Google’s probably abandoning the pagerank system for good.

What do you think?

  1. Personally, I’m leaning toward “they’ve abandoned the pagerank system for good.” Question is, how long will a PR0 site (like one of mine) be considered no good. I hope some other method of valuing websites comes along (in our lifetime).

  2. no way. Google spent millions of dollars patenting Page Rank. there is no way they’d throw it away. after all the “mystery” of it is enough to piss off all of their competitors. I think that the update is happening very soon.

  3. I personally think they will abandon it. Its been since April and that is now going on 8-9 months. Not even a single word from Cutts or anyone else from Google. My thoughts are most websites will now be valued based on quantity and quality of backlinks. If you get links from other sites with good backlinks it will only help. PR has been abused along time so maybe they will get rid of it.

  4. Probably PR update is about to come. Though some people say PR is off..Google can not release this function. But due to backlink sales, they are trying to minimize their effect on seo…
