When I read about Speek’s service, I thought to myself that it is a funny thing what the founders of Speek and I have thought about conference calls all along. It can be a hassle having to remember pins and dial-in numbers.
Sure, you save those in some sticky or text file but I just see those excess things as garbage. Can we do conference calls without having to remember numbers and such? After all, that is what domain names are for right? We do not have to remember IP addresses but instead some name that is easy to remember.
This is how Speek came into fruition.
Speek uses a personal or business link i.e. speek.com/YourName where instead of a phone number and PIN for conference calls, you can set a name that can easily be remembered by whoever plans to do conference calls with you.
Participants simply click the link to start or join a call from their phone, web or mobile browser. Callers can see who joined, who is talking, share files use call controls and many more.
The service comes with a Pro package where more features are available like unlimited conference calls and callers, file sharing, call recording, in-call chat, the ability to see who is talking and who has joined the call, option to mute, add or remove participants and reports like call history icnluding dates of calls, participants and files shared to name a few.
The Speek brand is fun to the point that even their CEO got the logo tattooed on his butt after they won a pitch contest at SXSW. Speek has even been featured in the Wall Street Journal Startup of the Year documentary.
