RockMelt is a social media web browser backed by Netscape founder Marc Andreessen. Based on Chromium, it is vying to make a mark in a crowded Web browser arena that already features Microsoft’s Internet Explorer, Apple’s Safari, Google’s Chrome and Mozilla’s Firefox.

RockMelt enables you to interact and share with friends on Facebook, Twitter and other sites instantly from anywhere on the web. By integrating Facebook directly into the browser, you are always ready to chat, share a video, or keep up on what your friends are doing, wherever you are on the Web.

RockMelt displays a user’s social networks such as Facebook and Twitter in a margin on the right hand side of the page and friends on the left hand side. Teens may find this browser appealing if all they do is socialize. But for professionals who are occupied with work, this can be annoying in my opinion. I even find Facebook chat annoying, how much more this browser.

The browser is not yet publicly available but you can go to the site and connect using your Facebook account to get an invite for a download.
