You may have gotten used to seeing the SECURITY tab in the properties popup window in Windows XP. Suddenly, you do not see one in your home PC. By default, this tab is not visible when you are not part of a domain. But there is a way to enable this even though you are not part of any domain.
Follow these three simple steps:
- Open Windows Explorer or just type C:\ in the RUN command and choose Folder Options from the Tools menu.
- On the View tab, scroll to the bottom of the Advanced Settings and uncheck the checkbox next to Use Simple File Sharing.
- Click OK to apply the change
There! The SECURITY tab should now be visible when viewing properties of any file or folder in Windows XP.
