vstsYou always get to learn new things in every new job. One of those things is Microsoft’s Team Foundation Server or TFS for short. It offers source control, data collection, reporting, project tracking and is intended for collaborative software development projects. It is available either as stand-alone software, or as the server side back end platform for Visual Studio Team System (VSTS).

You can even use it from within Microsoft Visual Studio. I wondered why they had to make another source control product when they already have Visual Source Safe. Marketing ploy is my thinking that this was created. Even if the excuse is for .NET purposes, they could have used Visual Source Safe and modified it to cater to .NET. I still like CVS. VSS is alright but any source control process that goes through Windows Explorer like SVN is not my cup of tea.

I am still new to this. I have to figure out how to use it with Windows Explorer since the popup menu does not have any menu item for TFS. Currently I check out stuffs through Microsoft Visual Studio.
